Launching 03 projects performed on the right to information act No. 12 of 2016 took place on the 11.11.2019 at the Auditorium of the Department of Government Information with the chairing of Mr. Sunil Samaraweera, the Secretary to the Ministry of Mass Media and other government officials.
The so launched projects were,
- Launching the new website prepared with the objective of publishing and promotion of proactive information,
- Developing and launching an online directing and supervision system for applications on the information act,
- Launching the set of guidelines related to the information act.
Presenting proactive information in a technical and electronic methodology
Two new websites prepared with the objective of publishing and promotion of proactive information was launched herewith. They are the websites of Vocational Training Authority and the Department of Agrarian Services. Financial assistance of the the United Nations Development Programme was rendered for the creation of these websites.
Developing a system for supervision of electronic submission of applications on the information act
A system for online information requesting utilizing the information technology for implementing the Right to Information Act No. 12 of 2016 was developed with the financial contribution of the United Nations Development Programme and guidance of Mr. Sunil Samaraweera, the Secretary to the Ministry of Mass Media. Central Environment Authority was selected for the pilot programme of this system while the system too was launched on the very day.
Guidelines
A set of guidelines was published at this occasion for providing knowledge and guidance required for the information officers and the citizens interested on the act. This set of guidelines is a joint effort of the Ministry of Mass Media and the United Nations Development Programme. This has enabled the information officers and the citizens interested in the act to obtain the required guidance more clearly and formally.
